Javea, also known as “Xàbia” is a unique area of the Costa Blanca, and certainly one of the most beautiful and picturesque Mediterranean coast town.
The famous painter Joaquin Sorolla, at the beginning of last century, was captivated by the beautiful colours, climate and people of Javea

This small village of fishermen lies at the north of the Costa Blanca, in the northwest of the province of Alicante, it is between the famous capes of San Antonio and La Nao, and sheltered from north winds by the Montgo mountain barrier.

The privileged and strategic location of Javea has favored the settlement of the great Mediterranean cultures that have left their legacy on the population. We find traces of settlements of the Upper Paleolithic era, and legacies of other cultures like the Phoenician, Iberian, Roman, Islamic … In modern times Javea experienced great economic development as a port where they traded and exported raisins (dried grapes). This was reflected in a major urban growth and infrastructure. Currently Javea as a result of careful urban planning, offers a wide and varied selection of properties to suit all pockets. Despite its development in recent years Jávea has kept its local color, reflected in its beautiful streets of the Old part of the Town, where visitors can enjoy plenty of houses and buildings in the traditional Jávea, all with the famous Tosca stone that was extracted from the old quarries near the sea. The honey- golden color glow that provides Tosca combined with the white color of the Mediterranean facades provides a unique and special beauty to the streets of Jávea.

To know Jávea better it is necessary to visit the old town and the buildings and places listed below:

Church of St. Bartholomew: Fully built with Tosca is the most remarkable building of the historic center of Javea. This is a Church-Fortress, which began to be built in 1304 and has undergone several expansions throughout history as serving a dual purpose: To cover the religious needs and defend the population against attacks from pirates Berbers. In 1931 it was declared a National Monument.
Arenal Beach: Sandy beach and shallow water that sits in the middle of the bay of Javea. It is the best known and most frequented, being the only sandy beach in Javea. Next to it is at its northern end the famous Parador Nacional de Turismo de Jávea. It offers services such as maritime surveillance, health center, beach access, showers, lockers, hammocks, parasols, public telephone, promenade, bus stops, taxi etc … Annually is awarded as Blue Flag.

Cala Granadella: One of the best known areas in the town of Jávea. It is a rustic creek of gravel, rock and crystal clear waters, ideal for scuba diving. It is accessed via the road from Javea to Cabo de la Nao. This creek is annually awarded with a blue flag. From the creek starts a hiking trail to the Castle Granadella.

Granadella Castle: Small fortress by the sea which is only accessible on foot via a trail. It was built in the eighteenth century and was occupied by a garrison of three men and two bronze cannons, serving to monitor and protect the coast from possible attacks.

Cabo de la Nao: Famous for its beautiful and spectacular sea views and the rocky cliffs of the area, it is the most easterly point of the Costa Blanca. There is still a working lighthouse, and several viewpoints, it is considered a natural micro zone reserved area but there are several restaurants where you can enjoy a good meal accompanied by spectacular views.
